K-Array Anakonda: the Problem-Solver You Need to Know About

There is always that one project where you’ll require a more “flexible loudspeaker solution” where a traditional loudspeaker just won’t fit within the size restrictions, or where a large box isn’t feasible, for a variety of reasons.

Ever have a place where you need to easily distribute quality audio where it must be invisible?  Where you just can’t put speakers on the wall?  Well we have a solution for you.  K-Array, an Italian-based speaker manufacturer of innovative, problem-solving products came up with the ANAKONDA series of speakers; their “flexible” design, means they can go where loudspeakers have never gone before.

Offering two models: KAN200 and KAN200+ (for higher SPL applications) these flexible, snake-like speakers can be bent around surfaces; being able to extend the line of speakers by easily connecting Anakonda’s together means that these can be adjusted to just the right length for customized coverage.

Up to 16 of these modules can be interconnected, creating a 32m continuous line of sound.  That would make for a over 100 feet!

Due to how lightweight and flexible the Anakonda is, it is one of the pro audio loudspeakers for distributed audio.  From anything such as retail applications, to houses of worship or corporate AV, the KAN200 and KAN200+ is a powerful tool for distributing audio.  It is truly a problem-solver.

The KAN200 has a maximum peak SPL of 102 dB, while the KAN200+ has a maximum peak SPL of 108 dB per 2meter Anakonda.  They provide 120 Hz  – 16 kHz performance (+/- 6 dB), and feature 160 x 10 degree coverage.  Each of the KAN200/KAN200+ feature 8 x 1” Neodymium cone driver with 0.75” voice coil.  The KAN200 features a high-impedance of 64 ohms.  Each module is equipped with two Speakon NL4 connectors and are completely integrated in the “body” of the speaker. Once they are connected, they are hidden in the shape of the line.

Each Anakonda is provided with 2 fabric socks, one black and one white, which can be used to cover and protect the speaker from foreign objects like dust, and also give the possibility to change colors to match its surroundings. Wall brackets are included in the package to make the installation as easy and as fast as possible. All the components of the Anakonda are designed by the K-array R&D department and made in Italy under the K-array quality control system.

At 3.1 lbs and 4.2 lbs, respectively, these lightweight powerhouses pack a real punch, and sound great!  For front stage fills, the Anakonda is an exceptionally useful product.

Shown in the photo on the right, the Anakonda is being used for this exact purpose.  Handling front fills duties when aesthetics are critical, the KAN200/KAN200+ is up for the task, and the flexible design lends it well for this type of installation.

How about in an outdoor environment?  Due to its IP rating, it can be used outdoors, too. The Anakonda is a perfect fit for situations such as outdoor patio’s and dining areas.  The Anakonda is even useful in church and houses of worship applications.  In addition to front stage lip fills, the Anakonda is well-suited for use at the front of balconies.  For use in a choir loft as the choir monitors, or anywhere else where having a traditional loudspeaker would not be acceptable.

The possible applications are endless, and this snake-like speaker will become your favorite problem-solving product once you get a chance to use it on an install.
