Situated in Singapore’s South Beach, the newly opened whisky outlet, Quaich Bar, is quickly becoming the preferred locale of the trendy hot spot. It has even been heralded by Whisky Magazine as one of the great whisky bars of the world on account of its outstanding presentation, promotion and knowledge.
To match its esteemed reputation, Quaich Bar owners called on the services of Loud Technologies Asia Pacific (LTAPL) as supplier and Synergy AVL for the installation, for a discrete but powerful audio solution to create the desired ambiance. With a complete understanding of the client requirements, LTAPL designed a system comprised of K-array loudspeakers to meet all needs. A total of 12 KT2 Tornado speakers in black and white have been fixed to the upper walls between rows of whisky bottles behind glass cases, which are augmented in the lower frequencies by three KU26 six-inch subwoofers. Powered by a single KA24 amplifier, the facility manager has been provided with zone control courtesy of an Audac MTX48 providing wireless Bluetooth source and level control via an iOS or Android App, Audac Dashboard. In addition to the main bar, there is also a private VIP section and a cigar smoking area.
Another lounge to recently open in the Lion City, the Beacon is 
something of a Singaporean institution where its patrons are served food, drink and live music until the early hours. Noise pollution owing to the open nature of the venue is an ongoing concern for hotel guests at the nearby Marina Bay Mandarin Hotel, so the owners were drawn to ensuring the SPLs remain on site and once again LTAPL’s services were called upon. The FOH system from K-array comprising of two flown KP102 Python speakers per sideand two floor standing KMT18P subwoofers is powered by a single KA84 4-channel amplifier. Measuring 1m in length by 90mm width and 120mm depth each, the Python columns are virtually invisible to the audience. More importantly perhaps, the 7-to 30-degrees vertical by 90-degrees horizontal dispersion characteristics of the 3.15-inch transducersare contained within the property. “The passive 12kg columns are deceptively powerful for their size providing a maximum of 128dB SPL.
