Well Pacific AV has had a busy start to 2018. Lots of exciting things in the works, including some awesome projects, events, and we hope, some new and exciting lines to come.
There are lots of projects that were done in just the first three months of the year, and we were happy to commission a few Renkus-Heinz systems. This system, we commissioned early in the year that features both the all-new C-series, CX151 loudspeakers. To provide low frequency support, the system features two CFX218S subwoofers. We were happy to see that the rack had Juice Goose power strips in it as well. Due to the larger horns in the CX151 loudspeakers, they provide very tight pattern control, with excellent intelligibility, which is exceptionally important for such an acoustically challenging space.
Its important to note that one of the absolute best characteristics of Renkus-Heinz is the performance, and sonic quality of their loudspeakers. Even for their lower price-point line, Renkus-Heinz provides loudspeakers that provide natural, beautiful sonic reproduction.
Lots of Iconyx systems are going in all over our territories, and we helped commission a new installation of IC24’s in the Inland Empire. This beautiful space benefited from the new loudspeaker system, which features two Renkus-Heinz IC24’s. Its no secret that Renkus-Heinz is the leader in steerable sound products. With their ever-expanding offering, Renkus-Heinz continues to provide a unique solution for providing sound reinforcement in acoustically challenging spaces, where exceptionally tight pattern control is required. RH does this better than any other company, and the system looks as good as it sounds in this space.
It’s still amazing that we can provide smooth, consistent SPL (sound pressure level) from the front to the very back of this large sanctuary. The whole aim of this system was providing intelligible, clear, and natural sound reproduction for the entire sanctuary. Yet another great example of a space that has some acoustical challenges, that has benefited from the technology utilized and offered in the Iconyx.
The first few months of this year have also been full of product demos. We even had the unique chance to take some of our gear out for shows. Shortly after the NAMM Show, we provided our TW AUDiO PA-SYS-ONE system to M&M Productions, based out of Knoxville, TN. Working with a private client, they needed a very high-output PA for their outdoor stage. The rig from TW AUDiO was the absolute perfect fit, and worked flawlessly. The system was powered by a massive rack (cue sarcasm) of Linea Research M-series power amplifiers. A pair of 44M20 amps were deployed to power the rig; plenty of power, 40kW in 4RU!
M&M Productions have had some experience with the system, and had taken out the system in TN for local shows. They had not, however, taken out the system powered by Linea Research power amplifiers. The system sounded great.
What is still most amazing is how light, and compact this system truly is. The PA-SYS-ONE can be set up by one person easily, and despite is monstrous level of output, can be transported in a van. It is truly a remarkable system, and it was great to get another chance to see the system in action, yet again.
The PA-SYS-ONE is a ground-stack package offered by TW AUDiO, and despite its compact size, it is quite a capable system. It features a pair of T24N, and four B30 subwoofers, plus amplifiers. The T24 was the predecessor of the T24N, and is really where TW AUDiO started from. Its a very high-output 2×12″ loudspeaker, with a 1.4″ HF that is horn-loaded. It provides reproduction down to 70Hz and is capable of maximum acoustic output of 143dB. What is more insane, is how small, and light this monster is.
The subwoofers in this system are the B30, which is a 2×15″ hybrid design, utilizing both bass reflex and horn-loading. Its small, very light, and provides absolutely solid bass. Its musical, with excellent transient response. Its the real deal.
The entire system, as a ground-stack can go up quite easy, and took very little time to set up. If you were a single person setting up the system, you could easily set it up. If you had two people, set up would merely take less time. The sound company and client were thrilled at the performance of this system.
Just days after doing that show, we provided the PA for an event being held in Santa Monica. The event was held at Piximondo, and was an exclusive, invite-only event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin. To read more on the event, go here.
There were many other demo’s, including taking out the KR402 system from K-Array, and an all-new product from Renkus-Heinz. Then came the ClearOne Connections Tour. The all-new trailer had only been on a few stops prior to arriving in Sunny Southern California. More photos are at the end of this post.
The beginning of the year was a busy one, and the year will continue to stay busy. We’re looking forward to the upcoming InfoComm, held this year in Las Vegas. While we’re on the subject of trade shows, we took part in a recent trade show for Vicoustic. Vicoustic had a booth at the recent Dwell on Design Show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Dwell on Design is a magnet for architecture and design professionals working in residential, contract, and hospitality design. The exhibition and conference feature the best in modern furnishings, lighting, accessories, kitchen and bath, home technology, outdoor, and design materials.
Dwell on Design gathers architects and designers with industry tastemakers for a sensory experience in Los Angeles. Each year, Dwell on Design brings together top exhibiting brands and trade professionals who specify and purchase products for clients. Dwell on Design invites the community to the event to inspire home remodeling projects, provide access to resources for their interiors, and to connect with architects and designers for their projects.
It was a great show, with lots of traffic into the Vicoustic booth. Interior designers, architects, and alike were absolutely blown away with the product.
On display in the booth was a large wall of Vicoustic’s all-new VMT: Virtual Material Technology.
A revolutionary new product range for residential and commercial applications. Developed exclusively by Vicoustic, Flat Panel VMT is made from VicPET Wool – a material produced mainly from recycled plastic bottles. With an innovative dyeing technology, Flat Panel VMT panels can simulate concrete, marble, wood and other materials, achieving an amazing and realistic look in any setting.
Flat Panel VMT panels are designed to perform primarily in the medium and high frequencies – a great solution for any commercial or residential application for treating both ceilings and walls. The applications for Flat Panel VMT are infinite, making it perfect for both new construction and refurbishment projects. Flat Panel VMT comes in 20mm and 40mm of thickness. Aesthetically, it comes in a wide range of patterns and can be fixed to any surface with several Vicoustic fixation solutions available.
The different patterns and shapes were an absolute hit, and especially interior designers saw the huge benefit that VMT offered for their clients, especially retails, hospitality, even residential!
Also on display in the booth were a variety of the companies Vic Wallpaper, and Wavewood. People absolutely loved the Wavewood as well. Vicoustic’s flagship Wavewood panel has been specifically developed to treat acoustic problems without destroying a room’s ambience, or over-deadening the sound. It can be used in control rooms, broadcast studios, live rooms where a range of instruments and voices are recorded, rehearsal rooms and other performance spaces. Wavewood is made from a combination of acoustic foam and wood. Its instantly recognizable design results from unique research based on the acoustic properties of the wood and foam combined with non-linear sequential cavities that enable Wavewood to act as both an absorber and diffuser. It is particularly effective in treating medium and high frequencies as well as solving issues such as flutter echoes. Wavewood can also be highly effective in controlling low frequencies when fitted in the corners of a room and used as a bass trap.
Towards the end of the last day of the show, we had a tiny visitor to the booth. This visitor was exceptionally excited to see all that Vicoustic had to offer. For more on Vicoustic products, go here.
