Shaping the Coverage of Your Speaker System Made Easy with VARIAi: Modular Installation Array from Renkus-Heinz

You run into this issue all the time…  Building arrays with a box that offers only a single horizontal and/or vertical dispersion pattern can make it tricky to get optimal coverage.  What if you were able to build vertical arrays that allowed you to better contour the coverage specific to the space you are working within, would that be helpful?  How about being able to utilize narrower boxes at the top of your array for longer throws, and using wider boxes for the areas closer to the array?

What if the boxes were free of external hardware, which allowed them to blend in far more seamlessly into the aesthetics?  Renkus-Heinz thought about addressing this when they came up with the VARIAi Modular Installation Array.  When installed, it blends in more seamlessly, allowing for it to be used in applications where aesthetics are important.  In other words, in any situation where the client doesn’t want to have a bulky array with rigging hardware showing, the VARIAi may be the right choice.

It was designed to be a highly versatile, and exceptionally flexible array.  The boxes feature premium components with high-powered low-frequency woofers, and lightweight neodymium compression drivers with advanced cabinet and waveguide designs.  This two-way design features a 10-inch low frequency driver, paired with either one or two 1-inch HF drivers with 1.75-inch voice-coils.  They sound excellent, as you would expect from Renkus-Heinz.  In the line-up, there are three cabinet angles allowing for more customized vertical coverage.  For greater coverage angles, you can use the 15 or 22.5-degree boxes.  For tighter pattern control, a 7.5-degree box is offered.  For greater ease of flexibility, VARIAi is offered with five waveguide options.  Choose from 60º, 90º or 120º standard WaveGuides or VARIAi’s unique 60º to 90º, or 90º to 120º, Transitional WaveGuides. The VARIAi was designed for three system configurations. VARIAi can be configured in three basic system styles.

Available as self-powered enclosures or externally amplified, VARIAi’s exibility, power, and performance make it an ideal solution for the most demanding applications. The self-powered models feature RHAON, the innovative integrated DSP allowing for all signal processing in the cabinet.  This includes things such as equalization, delay, high-pass filters, etc.  Also offered is a flyable, 15-inch subwoofer for adding additional low-frequency output.  The VA/VAX15Si can be flown as part of the array, or can be placed on the ground.  This 15-inch box goes down to 40 Hz, with a peak SPL of 129 dB.

The applications for the VARIAi are numerous and countless.  For performing arts theaters, houses of worship, lecture halls, and music venues are just some of the venues where the VARIAi excels.  If you’re looking for sheer flexibility paired with the amazing sound quality you’ve come to expect from Renkus-Heinz, then look no further than VARIAi.
