ClearOne Awarded New Patent for Conferencing Technology by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

ClearOne (NASDAQ: CLRO), a global provider of audio and visual communication solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a new patent involving ClearOne’s conferencing technology.

On May 31, 2016, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) issued United States Patent number 9,357,171 entitled, “System and Method of Multi-End-Point Data Conferencing.” The ‘171 patent relates to a scalable conferencing system designed to support multi-party calls, permitting endpoints to discover each other and providing an efficient way for data to be mixed and re-transmitted to endpoints that are participating in a multi-party conference. Embodiments of this invention enable multiple endpoints using a multicast protocol and participating in conferences that include audio, video, and/or data sharing to function without a central multi-point control unit. This can decrease the cost of multi-party conferencing.

This new patent is part of ClearOne’s growing patent portfolio that currently includes over 100 patents and pending patent applications covering multiple new technologies in the fields of audio and video processing, audio and video streaming, and communication technologies.  This ongoing development of new patents continues ClearOne’s market leadership position, strong history of product innovation, and development of cutting edge technologies.
