K-array Among Greek Gods in Theater Production Tour

The Messina province is the coastal region in the northwest of Sicily. With origins that date as early as 716 BC, the region’s historical roots can even be traced back in famous literary works. For example, in Homer’s Odyssey, the Messinian beach town Milazzo is indicated as the place where Ulysses shipwrecks and meets Polyphemus, which is why it is quite fitting a stage production tour based off the ancient Greek poem kicked off in the town’s theater.

The shows began in February and ran throughout the province in Capo D’Orlando, Sant’Agata Militello, and Tindari. The production is a reading of Alessandro Baricco’s version of the Iliad, with musical interludes and percussive effects that emphasize the various passages of the poem.

The event staff brought in rental company Arka Service to meet their audio requirements for a portable system that produces very natural, yet impactful acoustics specially to emphasize the intensity during the musical numbers that simulated battles, the predominant theme of the epic poem.

Arka Service project supervisor, Salvatore Barone, knew immediately how to meet the clients’ demand. After successfully employing K-array’s Pinnacle portable line at previous events in Messina, Barone was familiar of the Pinnacle-KR402 I capabilities: fast installation setup and dismantle and a great sound in small, highly reverberant spaces.

“The intent was to move through the huge weight of words with clarity and the wide dynamic that goes with it, but also create more relaxed moments with musical interludes. To achieve this we made use of the extended frequency response of the Pinnacle-KR402 I and the great dynamic that the system provided in the theater. The Thunder-KMT21 subwoofer allowed us to have a big impact, while always providing a very defined sound. We began with EASE Focus simulations of the various theaters where the production was being hosted and, with the ability to choose the angle and vertical coverage of Python-KP102 I tops, we managed to completely cover the audience area in all locations.” -Salvatore Barone, Arka Service project supervisor

Along with the easy plug and play capabilities, Barone also took note of the Pinnacle’s ease of setup:  “I saw a big step forward in the hardware of the Pinnacle-KR402 I system from the older model. This allowed me to be much more precise installation.”

Client feedback was decisive. After the run, actors and musicians expressed their astonishment of the high-quality sound that played from the system:”The best sound we’ve ever had for a production.”
