Two Days, Two Demos for One Highly Reverberant Catholic Church

Renkus-Heinz IC2 DemoWe recently provided two demo’s for a Catholic Church with fairly lively room acoustics.  During two separate occasions, we brought in gear to do speaker demo’s.  The first demo featured Renkus-Heinzs’ IC2 digitally steerable line array.  Two ground stack arrays were set up, containing two IC212 subwoofers and two IC2 per side.  The four subwoofers were not used during the demonstration, and were only in place to provide adequate height for the array.  The IC2 system performed well in this live space, and provided very consistent front to back coverage.

What was even more impressive was how well the IC2 in a small array were able to tightly control the pattern, providing excellent intelligibility, even in the nave, where there are the largest number of acoustical issues in this space.  While the church was sold on the performance, aesthetics were also a major concern.

Renkus-Heinz IC Live DemoThe second day demo featured the IC Live.  Due to it’s smaller footprint and column design, it provided a much more minimal aesthetic impact to the space.  Provided for this demo were a stereo IC Live Dual system, which were ground-stacked on top of a single IC215S subwoofer per side.  The IC Live performed well within the room, and provided very consistent front to back coverage as well.  The slightly wider coverage of the IC Live meant the entire width of the room received excellent sound.
